De La Salle School is an oversubscribed, non-selective, co-educational, Roman Catholic secondary school for children aged 11-16 under the trusteeship of the Lasallian Brothers. It is situated in Eccleston, a suburb of St Helens, Merseyside, within the Archdiocese of Liverpool and currently has 1,200 pupils on roll. We are a proud member of a Lasallian family of over 1 million staff and students in 80 countries around the world.
The school is a wonderful place to work which is summed up in the opening lines of our most recent Ofsted report:
This school has an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness that helps pupils feel at ease. The strong, positive relationships between staff and pupils exemplify the school’s values.
We are seeking to appoint a Foundation Governor to join our strong governing body. Any applicant must be a practising Catholic. In addition, these are not essential but we would particularly welcome applications:
Foundation Governors form the majority group of Governors on the Governing Body and are appointed by our Lasallian Trustees. Foundation Governors have the responsibility of sustaining and developing the Catholic ethos and distinctive Catholic nature of the school.
The role of Governor is extremely rewarding. It provides the office holder with the opportunity to help shape the strategic direction of the school, ensuring its educational provision remains appropriate to the needs of the students and the wider community. Appropriate induction and training are available upon appointment.
For further information and for an application pack, please contact Ms Carolyn Warburton at the school by email: warburtonc@delasalleschool.org.uk
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. To ensure that this is achieved we expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment and staff will be recruited and selected in line with safer recruitment policy and practice. The successful applicant will undertake an enhanced DBS check.
