Mathematics

The intention of the curriculum is to enable students to become fluent in mathematics through varied and frequent practice, allowing them to develop conceptual understanding with the ability to recall and apply knowledge rapidly and accurately. Mathematics is an interconnected subject, so the revisiting of topics from all key stages allows students to discover the connectedness of distinct units of work.

The impact of a high quality mathematics education provides a foundation for understanding the world, the ability to reason mathematically, an appreciation of the possibilities that a competence in mathematics provides and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.

Concepts and procedures are embedded through opportunities for retrieval, ensuring that students are prepared for the next stage in their learning.
