Despite a second year of falling GCSE results nationally, students at De La Salle School continue to buck the trend with their results rising for the second year running. This is excellent news for the students who have been able to secure their places at college, 6th form or on apprenticeships.
As well as the overall attainment of students at De La Salle going up, they also saw their highest number of Grade 9s ever – reflecting the high quality of teaching and learning within the school.
Of course, the whole school success was made up of individual successes including Stephen Pennington (8 Grade 9s and 1 Grade 7), Eleanor Evans (6 Grade 9s and 3 Grade 8s), Beatrice Cliffe (5 Grade 9s, 1 Grade 8, 3 Grade 7s and 2 Grade 6s), Weronica Wuwer (4 Grade 9s, 6 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7) and Emma Shepherd (4 Grade 9s, 5 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7). Amongst those making the most progress were Jayden Rigby, Grace Daley, Jessica Bannister and Beth Perry.
Headteacher Andy Rannard was very pleased with the results saying, “I know for many students nationally, this will have been a challenging set of results as the national grades have fallen, but we are delighted that, here at De La Salle, the hard work of our staff and students has bucked the trend and improved on last year’s strong results. This is the payoff of us working together – home and school. So, I would like to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication, our families for their continued support and, of course, congratulate our students on their successes and wish them well on their next steps in education.”
