Primary feeder schools have been visiting De La Salle since February this year to take part in a special series of art workshops. Each school has been introduced to the idea of acceptance of self and the concept that confidence should not be gained from changing your appearance. All schools involved then produced a series of work using digital and physical manipulation to alter the features of students and staff from De La Salle. The outcomes were fantastically creative and comical but had a serious message that every one of us beautiful and should appreciate our own unique features.
Miss Winder has commented that all schools involved in the process showed maturity beyond their years, giving thoughtful insights into how we might emotionally feel about our own reflection. She has commented:
“The work created by the year 5 students could be regarded as a similar quality to year 7, so I am extremely proud of the way each school listened, engaged and used their personal creatively to express themselves. Everyone should be very proud, as I am.”
Work will be exhibited as part of the Whole School Art Celebration being held on July 11th and 12th and will be a great way to introduce the students to their future creative Lasallian family.
