Reading Buddies

Within our school, we are trying to make a difference for the greater good. One of our core values is quality education which has been fulfilled recently by a group of prefects and 1719 members. The Y11 students have been fully trained by a member of staff to guide and assist children of the younger years to enjoy a book that outside of school they may not have necessarily chosen. The aim of the program is to improve the confidence of the younger years which will be a great life skill for them to develop upon as they go through the school. So far, it has been a huge success as both the Y7/Y8 pupils and the Y11’s have found it enjoyable and enlightening. Many Y11’s would never have had this opportunity before therefore they are very appreciative: it makes the time they are giving up both worthwhile and rewarding. Hopefully we will be able to invite more students to join this programme as time goes on making the impact greater and the community of the school a happier place to be.
